6 Days 5 Nights
Trekking in Garhwal Region and exploring the remote valleys of Uttarakhand will be one of the best trekking experiences for you. The Rupin Supin Trek is surely as fun as the name. Located in the north-west corner of Uttarakhand and on the border with Himachal Pradesh, the Valleys are some of the most scenic and beautiful ones. Trekking along the Rupin River within the boundaries of Govind Pashu National Park will be a memorable experience for you. Rupin Supin is a lesser known and remote area in the Garhwal Himalayas and you will get a chance to traverse the two valleys in a spectacular trek over high ridges, overlooking the mighty Himalayan peaks mainly the Kinnaur Kailash Range. The trek to Rupin Supin will surprise you at every step and every turn you take, be it the surreal landscapes, the snow-capped mountains or the remote valleys of Garhwal and Kinnaur.
The Rupin Supin Trek starts at Bheetri in Uttarakhand. From there we will head to Kurla Thaach from where you will cross few forests to reach Rikatik Odi. It is the connection point of Rupin and Supin Valleys, so take a few moments and admire the splendid views of the valley from here. Cross a few more Himalayan villages to get to the Supin Valley leaving the Rupin valley behind. Enjoy the warmth of home stays and then finally head back to Dehradun before stopping at Sankri for a night.
The Himalayan vistas on this trek will surely mesmerise you and leave you in awe. Go for the Rupin Supin Trek adventure to take in the beauty of the Himalayas and to breathe in the fresh mountain air!
Arrive at Dehradun on your own. We will start early from Dehradun to reach the Tons Valley. Public transportation or private transport is easily available to get to Himri. The extremely beautiful route will take you up in the mountains via Nainbagh and Damta. If you want to make some important calls, then Purola is the last city on the route with good network connectivity. We will enter the Tons Valley and cross Mori and Netwar, post which we will ride along the Rupin River upwards, and stop between Netwar and Dhaula at Himri to camp for the night by the river.
After a light breakfast at Himri, jeeps will be waiting for us. We will leave for Bheetri which is the last motorable village on our route. Bheetri, with over a hundred households, is a typical village of the Garhwal Himalayas. From Bheetri we start walking towards Kurala Thaach. After crossing Bheerti we reach Sarutaal after walking for 2 kms and admire the views of Rupin Valley from the cliff. Sarutaal is a small beautiful seasonal pond at the edge of the cliff. Rest for a while at the paradise, before walking into the woodland for a 6 KM hike. You will reach Kurala Thaach which is a vast grassy meadow, home to the locals who live with their herds of cattle and equines. It will be a pleasant sight to spot cows, buffaloes, horses and mules grazing in the grassy pastures.
We will start early in the morning to begin our ascent up through a few forests to reach the top of the mountain face. We will reach the spot called Simon Tee at an altitude of 11154 feet which offers some splendid views of the Himalayan Peaks. We will continue along the mountain top admiring the amazing vistas. After a while we will reach Rikatik Odi which is a connecting point between Rupin and Supin Valley. We will camp at the barren land of Rikatik Odi.
Today we will enter the Supin Valley and leave the Rupin Valley behind. We will walk through the conifer forest and reach another typical Garhwal village called Phitadi, with wooden house and slate stone roofs. We have a chance here to know more about the local culture and traditions. We can visit a local home stay and spend some time with the locals, and hear their legends and some interesting stories of their life.
Today is the last day of our trek. We will leave for Jakhol in the morning. After crossing vast farmlands we will reach the village which is also the entrance to the Supin Valley. We can explore the large temple in the village which is dedicated to the local deity. We will spend some time at the village and then we will leave for Sankri which is an hour's drive from Jakhol. We will spend the night at Sankri.
A 7 hours’ drive from Sankri will take you to Dehradun where our amazing Rupin Supin Trek concludes. Head towards your next destination.
